CoinUp provides virtual freeplay support for ANY arcade game!
The device monitors any existing button of your choosing (1st player start for example). If the button is held down for a fixed amount of time (see below), it temporarily disables that button while sending coin pulses to the PCB to coin up the game. Release the button and functionality is returned to normal. Takes about 5 minutes to install.
The CoinUp can be programmed to utilize the onboard dip switch in one of two ways:
Variable Pulse Width - This feature allows the user to adjust the width of the coin pulse getting sent to the PCB. (adjustable from 31 to 250ms). When programmed with this feature, the coin signal will be sent to the PCB when the button is held down for longer than a second.
Variable Button Delay - This feature allows the user to adjust the delay from when the button is pressed to when the coin signal is sent to the PCB. (adjustable from 1 to 8 seconds). When programmed with this feature, the pulse with will be fixed at about 125ms.
Q: "So which should do I get?"
A: Well if your game is finicky with the coin switch signal (Operation Wolf for example) or if you're just not sure, then the Variable Pulse Width is a safe way to go.
One way to check is to simply hold down the coin switch for a couple of seconds and look for any undesired behavior:
- multiple coin-ups
- error messages
- game resets
If any of these occur, go for the Variable Pulse Width. This will allow you to fine tune the coin pulse if need be.
If none of these issues pop-up, then go ahead and grab a Variable Button delay. That way you can decide how long you have to hold the button down.
Q: "Do I have to cut into my harness as shown in the video?"
A: Nope. If your system uses 'blade' style connectors to connect to the coin switch and/or control panel buttons then you can use addition blade connectors to 'tap' into the harness.

Outstanding product!
This is an outstanding product. The shipping was fast and the online instructions are great. I was a little unfamiliar with one of the connections and Adam was very helpful via email. This is a great value and will make life easier in the game room for all who visit.
Nice job Adam!
